Who We Are
Okehampton Baptist Church is a family, made up of people who have faith in Jesus Christ and who seek to serve Him. Rather than simply warming the seats in our chapel, we believe that Jesus calls us to keep our lives dust-free by responding to the needs of our community. Our Bible-based truth-telling is matched by pastoral encouragement and practical support.
The church is led by a minister, with the support of a team of deacons. Together they help to guide the church family in its life and work.

Rev. Cliff G. Jackson, M.A.
Minister
Cliff is married to Alison and they have two grown-up daughters. Born in Hampshire, he trained and worked in Horticulture before studying for ministry at Moorlands College and then Regents Park College, Oxford. He was ordained in Winchester in 1995. In 2022 he gained a Masters Degree in Pastoral Care from the Cambridge Theological Federation.
Cliff served churches in Lancashire and Cheshire for 15 years before taking on the role of Lead Chaplain at Britain’s largest retirement community, run by MHA. In 2016 he became the charity’s Regional Chaplain for Scotland and the North of England, looking after 30 chaplains.
In March 2021 Cliff and his family responded to a clear call from God to move 450 miles south to Okehampton in order to lead the church here. His focus is on pastoral care and mission, both rooted in an ever-deepening faith in the God for whom nothing is impossible.
